Celebrate good times, come on! It’s time to sit back and keep your eyes peeled for a very special event: Cartoon Carnival #50! To celebrate this milestone, we’ll be cracking ancient film cans open for a hefty batch of some of the rarest 16mm (no digital!) animated cartoons from the 1910s to the 1940s, straight from the Stathes Archives to the silver screen at Shoestring Press! The Stathes Collection is known for its vast and possibly unique number of silent-era animated cartoons housed in one location. Some of these films are currently the only known copies, and others may be one of only 2 or 3 known prints worldwide. Additionally, some sound-era cartoons from the 1930s and 1940s, with the same super-rare and possibly ‘lost’ distinction will be featured in this program. Felix the Cat? Oswald the Lucky Rabbit? Early sound Fleischer cartoons unseen by the general public in decades? (Not an exaggeration!) We’ll have them here. Don’t miss it. Special Attraction: For our silent-era subjects, the first half of this program will feature live musical accompaniment by Charlie Judkins! Show tix $10 at the door.
